Second best Yakuza game. It’s incredible I can’t believe it.

I actually like the reprieve from the beat em up style just for one game. The end of this game got a dude shedding a tear a little bit I won’t lie. I like ichi as a character foil to kiryu, I think Majima is technically supposed to be that throughout the series, but Ichi is another version of that. My second favorite in the franchise.

Makes me feel insane that I don’t feel this is one of the strongest in the series but I do think it is still a very solid game that I loved. I will never prefer turn based over live combat but it makes it engaging enough to not be a slog. New protagonist is always tough to make work and while it’s great they did not make him Kiryu part 2 I do think Ichiban is just a little too anime protagonist for my liking. The theme of “friends will get you through” kind of stuff can be fine it’s a little too corny for my liking to relate to it in any real way. The presentation of kiryu as the straight man in a world of goofs really worked for me and ichiban is more of a goof in a world of goof I say all this still enjoying the game a great deal and maybe this review would make more sense as a contrast to the many 10s this entry gets elsewhere
