About
In this first-person Western RPG, the player takes on the role of Courier 6, barely surviving after being robbed of their cargo, shot and put into a shallow grave by a New Vegas mob boss. The Courier sets out to track down their robbers and retrieve their cargo, and winds up getting tangled in the complex ideological and socioeconomic web of the many factions and settlements of post-nuclear Nevada.

(9)A post-apocalyptic RPG where your choices actually shape the world. The factions, characters, dialogue, exploration, and sheer freedom make the Mojave feel like a place where almost anything can happen.

I’ll never forget my first playthrough in October 2010. I made it to the dam and had to get off for the day. I came back home and all my save files were corrupted. That hurt worse than my dad dying a few months later.

I was obsessed with this game in my senior year of high school. It's such a great game. It's hard for me to agree with the sentiment that most people hold about it being the best fallout game just because it's SO short and the map is so small with about a third of it being taken up by mountains you can't traverse, but that's just credit to Bethesda doing so much with so little to give us something to hold us over while fallout 4 got made. I need fallout 5 or a remaster of this and 3 so badly!

Where Fallout 3 was about being a lone survivor wandering through the ruins of a dead world, Fallout: New Vegas was about political intrigue and morally grey choices. Fallout 3 almost feels like the Stone Age of the post-apocalypse, where people are scattered, isolated, and simply trying to survive, while New Vegas feels closer to medieval times, with organized factions, armies, territories, alliances, and leaders fighting over power. The Mojave feels less like a wasteland you simply survive in and more like a place caught in the middle of a political struggle, with the NCR, Caesar’s Legion, Mr. House, and countless smaller factions all competing to shape its future. New Vegas also takes player choice to another level, with decisions that can completely change quests, faction relationships, and even the ending of the game. On top of that, it improves a lot of Fallout 3’s mechanics with better gunplay, amazing weapon variety, crafting, reputation systems, and more ways to build your character.

In my opinion, fallout new vegas was a truly masterpiece of game that due to the fact of hardware limitations the developers had to excel in everything else. The companions are the best companions in gaming only topped by baulders gate, the writing is exceptional if you look at the factions even the small ones make an impact on the story and each mission you do will impact how the world around you sees you. It’s the perfect sequel to the classic games which built the series and allows the player to see the advancement of the new California republic that they formed due to their exploits in fallout 1. Only complaints I had were due to hardware limitations of the time, so I’d be unfair to factor that into the review. So in conclusion fallout new vegas is a true testament to obsidian entertainment’s ability to write a story that perfectly transfers into a game format.
