Metro Exodus

I’ve played all three Metro games to Platinum, and while I still think Metro Exodus is a great game, it’s probably my least favorite of the trilogy. The characters are probably the strongest they’ve been in the series. I found myself more invested in them and their relationships, which made the journey feel more meaningful. That said, I’m definitely more of a fan of the linear level design from the first two games. I never really got into the open-world areas of Metro Exodus. Moving around the larger environments often felt a bit clunky to me, and I didn’t find the open-world structure as enjoyable as the more focused levels of the previous games. However, the atmosphere is still fantastic, and the variety of environments is one of the game’s biggest strengths. Every area feels different, and the change in scenery keeps the journey interesting. The story was pretty cool and interesting overall. I enjoyed following the journey, although I was a little disappointed that some of the events and story elements from the first two games felt more or less irrelevant to what happens here. Considering how connected the previous games were, I expected their events to have a bigger impact. The weapon gameplay is probably the best in the series. The weapon customization feels great, and the new mechanics, especially the backpack and workbench systems, were very well implemented. They add a nice layer of customization and make the survival aspect of the game more enjoyable.
