About
Firewatch is a single-player first-person video game where you, as a man named Henry, explore the Wyoming wilderness after taking a summer job as a fire lookout. What is supposed to be a peaceful respite from your complicated life takes a turn when you start to question some of the things that are happening to you. Your only human connection is over a handheld radio, which you’ll use to speak with your supervisor Delilah about the things both of you are experiencing.

This game takes something very mundane and communicates it in an entertaining way masking it in mystery which never gets resolved. All those strange events stay unexplained and i think that is the best thing about this game. This way the main story stays focused on deeply personal topics, escaping a complicated everyday life and seeking a connection with a total stranger without meeting them in person. There is a certain appeal to connecting with a total stranger over digital communication, sharing your life’s story where you are the only narrator and your story is not challenged by those who witnessed it. There is a certain degree of comfort and win in that, to be able to remake yourself, establish anew and be accepted as you wish to present yourself. Often we come under pressure and scrutiny from our friends and family who think they know us best. There is always a certain struggle associated with that, where your close ones always view you through the prism they built years and decades ago. Sometimes it is the hardest to get validation from your closes circle about things that are new to and about you. This game shows how comforting it is to connect with a stranger and not be challenged on your life’s story or who you want to be, especially when your life gets complicated and everything seems to be in a grey zone. This game is about just that. One of the most self-reflective gaming journeys.

This game had like the best story that a "walking simulator" could have. The ending was heart breaking. The game isn't too long, I completed the game in about 5-6 hours, but it packs a really good game in the short runtime it has!
